Docetaxel-induced ischemic colitis in a breast cancer patient: A case report
https://ir.csmu.edu.tw:8080/ir/handle/310902500/25135
title: Docetaxel-induced ischemic colitis in a breast cancer patient: A case report abstract: Ischemic colitis is a rare and serious complication of taxane-based chemotherapy. Experience, in terms of clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment, is lacking due to a limited number of cases. Here, we report a case of a female breast cancer patient who developed ischemic colitis, after receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy with docetaxel, and recovered following conservative management.
Digital Heterotopic Ossification After Groin Flap for Crush Injury of the Hand: A Case Report
https://ir.csmu.edu.tw:8080/ir/handle/310902500/25134
title: Digital Heterotopic Ossification After Groin Flap for Crush Injury of the Hand: A Case Report abstract: We report a case of heterotopic ossification in a 60-year-old woman after crush injury with significant skin defects along the right middle, ring, and small fingers, managed with groin flap 38 years previously. Digital heterotopic ossification is extremely rare. As such, case reports of digital heterotopic ossification after trauma and flap reconstruction are few. Over a period of three decades, this patient became symptomatic with palpable bony protrusions of the digits, in addition to pain, swelling, and chronic wounds. The diagnosis was established with plain radiography and computed tomography, which revealed soft tissue ossification adjacent to the distal phalanx of the right ring finger. She underwent surgical excision due to lack of significant improvement after conservative treatment. This case report demonstrates that, although uncommon, heterotopic ossification can occur in a digit after groin flap reconstruction following crush injury of the hand.
Management of pediatric subtrochanteric femur fracture with hip spica cast and external fixator device: two case reports
https://ir.csmu.edu.tw:8080/ir/handle/310902500/25133
title: Management of pediatric subtrochanteric femur fracture with hip spica cast and external fixator device: two case reports abstract: Pediatric subtrochanteric femur fractures are uncommon. Methods for management include hip spica cast after closed reduction, external fixation, open reduction with plate fixation, flexible intramedullary nailing, and rigid intramedullary nailing. Here we report our experience of two cases of pediatric subtrochanteric femur fracture. The first case was treated with closed reduction followed by hip spica cast. The second case was treated with hip spica cast initially, then with external fixator device. In both cases, the fractures healed well without complications. Further studies are necessary to determine the optimal treatment of such fractures.
Thermal Injury to Skin and Abdominal Wall Structures During HIFU Ablation of Uterine Fibroids: Three Cases
https://ir.csmu.edu.tw:8080/ir/handle/310902500/25132
title: Thermal Injury to Skin and Abdominal Wall Structures During HIFU Ablation of Uterine Fibroids: Three Cases abstract: Uterine fibroids are common and benign gynecological tumors. Treatment options include surgery, medication, uterine arterial embolization(UAE), and high-intensity focused ultrasound(HIFU) ablation. HIFU has the advantage of being non-invasive. It also does not cause tissue adhesion or bleeding. However, during the treatment course, hyperthermia, cavitation, and mechanical effects may induce tissue necrosis at the focal point and tissue damage within the beam path. HIFU has been used extensively for the treatment of uterine fibroids in recent years, but few reports have been published on the complications of skin burns. We report three cases of skin burns after HIFU ablation and analyze the possible causes.
